Many students are aware that they need more Spanish speaking practice. So what are some ways to make that happen?
Here are a few:
– Take an additional class at PBO (or take the unlimited classes & come multiple times per week)
– Join a meetup group
– Talk to yourself, outloud (have a plan – talk about your day, about a conversation you had with someone, a movie you just saw, etc.)
– Talk to your friends/family that speak Spanish (tell them how important learning Spanish is to you – also, keep it short, maybe 10 minutes in Spanish each time you see them, so that they don’t start avoiding you or you avoiding them)
– Call businesses and ask random questions (for example, call a Taco Shop & ask when they close or if they have any specials – or call SDGE to ask a question about your bill, choosing the Spanish option of course)
The more you speak, the better you will get. Pretty simple.
When you come to PBO we will make sure that you practice speaking on a variety of subjects, that you are being corrected, that you are learning new vocabulary, etc. When you are practicing without us, you will still be improving your fluidity, so it’s perfectly ok if no one is there to correct you ☺
So what is your plan to speak Spanish outside of class this week?
