Pura Buena Onda’s Spanish Tip of the Week (1/14 – 1/16/16)

Hola chicos,

¡Feliz año nuevo! I am excited to be back in class this week! It’s been amazing to see everyone and to get to know some of our new students better. It’s going to be a great year, I can feel it 🙂

For our 1st tip of the week, I would like to address a few things that came up in class this week.

When you introduce yourself, you can say one of 3 things:
Soy + your name
Me llamo + your name
Mi nombre es + your name
What often happens is that students combine the 2nd and 3rd options and come up with “me llamo es,” which is incorrect.  So just remember to pick one of the 3 choices, but not to combine them 🙂

When students arrive at PBO we often say “¡Bienvenido!” and students often respond with a “bienvenido” back to us. Since it means “welcome,” the appropriate response might be “gracias” or “estoy emocionado de estar aquí” or something along those lines. But saying “welcome” back to us is probably not what you meant to say 🙂

Bueno chicos, that is it for this week! See you next week with another tip…
