Sometimes when we are learning something that takes time to master, something challenging, we tend to concentrate on everything we don’t know yet. This is natural, it’s where the brain tends to go. Sometimes though, it’s up to us to stop and take the brain on a different journey.
Today I want you to think about where you are on your Spanish journey, and I want you to take in everything that you have accomplished, everything that you have learned. Maybe you’re now able to order food at a restaurant, or able to understand 10% more than last year, or able to read the newspaper in Spanish, or maybe even starting to get the subjunctive! Wherever you are, take a moment to think about everything you know today that you did not know a year ago, 2 years ago, 5 years ago.
You may think “What kind of tip is this?” It’s a very important one actually. It’s very easy to get demotivated when you’re learning something so involved, something that takes a lifetime to master. It’s important to stop and give yourself credit every once in a while, take in everything you have learned, focus on the positive, rather than the negative. Ok chicos, it’s time to do that. Sit down for a moment, take 5 minutes out from your busy day and pat yourself on the back for everything that you have accomplished on your Spanish learning journey 🙂
