Weekly Tip & Optional Homework Week of 6/23 for week of 6/30/14

Weekly Tip:

Goal written by one of PBO’s Students: “Terminar el programa de Duolingo.”

Tip:

If you’re not familiar with Apple’s winner of Best New App of 2013, you need to check it out now! https://www.duolingo.com/

Duolingo is an amazing app that is fun and easy to use. It’s also something that you can do on your phone when you have 5 minutes, which makes it very convenient.

So the goal of finishing up the entire program in a year is a great goal…now how to get it accomplished:

–       Set a daily goal. I (Caro) am studying Italian on Duolingo and I have my goal set for 20 points a day, which takes about 10-15 minutes.

–       Have a set time to work on it (let’s say everyday while you’re eating lunch or right after dinner).

–       Have Duolingo remind you if you haven’t met your daily goal.

–       Compete with fellow classmates and/or teachers. I am currently competing with about 8 students and Lalo who is working on his French (this would be a 4th language for Lalo…impressive!).

It really is an amazing app! If you’re not using it yet, I highly recommend that you start.

One more tip: If it seems too easy, you can “test out” of levels until you get to the appropriate one.

Optional Homework

The optional homework is to write a list of 3-5 things from your day to day life that you can compare.

For example:

– Me gusta más enseñar que hacer el papeleo.

– Diego no es tan inteligente como su hermana Frida.

– Los huevos para el desayuno no me gustan tanto como un licuado.

Next week (or in 2 weeks for the Thu/Fri/Sat students) you can share your sentences with us 🙂

En español:

La próxima semana (o en 2 semanas para los alumnos de jueves, viernes y sábado) pueden compartir sus frases con nosotros 🙂

Besos,

Caro
