Goal written by one of PBO’s Students:
“I make the same mistakes over and over again. I want to correct all those mistakes this year.”
The best tip I can give you is to MAKE SURE that you ALWAYS repeat the word or phrase correctly after you’re corrected in class. If you do this, you will eventually get it right (it takes 8 – 20 times to learn something new).
BUT If you’re one of those students that says “yeah – that” after the teacher corrects you, you will never get it right. How could you if you’ve never said it correctly?
This goes for new vocabulary too. If you ask your teacher how to say something in Spanish, make sure you repeat it before moving on.
This is how you learn in a conversation class. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. Listen, repeat. AND NOW YOU’VE GOT IT!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
The optional homework is to watch Benny Lewis’ Ted Talk. It’s in English but it’s well worth watching as a learner of a foreign language.
Next week we’re going to talk about it in class and we would love for you to share your thoughts with us…en español. Obvio.
